How Much Will Your Family Vacation to Disneyland Cost in 2015

$

0

Disneyland Cost for 2015Everyone in the family wants to go to Disneyland, but how much is it going to cost? Disney vacations do not come cheap, but there are a number of ways you can make it more affordable. How much you can save depends upon the answers to the following questions.

• How many people will be going to Disneyland?
• How old are the kids?
• How many days do you want to spend in the two theme parks?
• What time of year do you plan to go?
• How will you get to Disneyland?
• Where do you want to stay and what kind of room do you desire?

You have four major costs to consider when planning your vacation to Disneyland Park and/or Disney California Adventure Park. They are: the cost of tickets, accommodations, travel, and food.

Tickets

Disney does not cut its ticket prices during the slow season, but they do offer discounts when you buy a multi-day admission ticket. Disney multi-day tickets must be used by the last day of 2015 and once you use the first day, the remaining days must be used over the next 13 days or they expire. You will get a lower per-day rate by purchasing a three or five-day pass rather than a one-day ticket. Young children (3-9) pay less than people 10 years or older and infants (under 3) get in for free.

Here is a look at the cost of tickets for a family of five that includes two adults and three children, ages 11, 6, and 2.

One-Day Ticket

For a one-day ticket that entitles you to admission to either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, the cost for the family of five would be $378. The three family members over the age of 10 are charged $96, the 6 year-old child pays $90, and the 2 year-old gets in for free. If you want to upgrade to the 1-day Park Hopper ticket, that allows you to visit both parks on the same day, it will cost you an additional $54 per ticket. That will add $216 to the 4 paid tickets for a total, one-day ticket tab of $594.

Three-Day Ticket

The price for those 10 and up is $226 per ticket ($75.34/day) and the price for the 6 year-old is $215 ($71.67) Upgrading to the Park Hopper ticket will add $39.00 to each ticket. Cost if you choose just the regular three-day ticket is $893. If you add the Park Hopper option, total cost goes up to $1,049.

Five-Day Ticket

If you love Disney so much and want to spend five days inside the two theme parks, the five-day pass is your most cost-effective option. The family will pay a total of $1,048, or an average of $52.40 per day/per person, with the five-day ticket and if the Park Hopper option is added, the family will pay a total of $1,204, or $60.20 per day/per person.

For most people who want to get the full Disney experience, one day is not enough and five days may be just a bit too much. Three days usually is just the right amount of time. The Park Hopper is best if you are going to try to squeeze both parks into one day, but if you have a three-day or longer ticket, you don’t really need it. Just spend a day or two in each park and save the extra expense.

Accommodations

You have the best opportunity to save by choosing where you are going to stay. Disney Resort hotels are beautiful, but they are also expensive. Why not stay at a much more affordable hotel like the Anaheim Express Inn Maingate which is just a short walk from the entrance to Disneyland and California Adventure. Not only are the rates among the lowest in town, but you also will enjoy great amenities like in-room refrigerators, free breakfast, and a sparkling pool. Remember, hotel rates are at their lowest during the slow season (January, February, last 3 weeks in October, first 3 weeks in November and December).

Travel to Anaheim

With the price of gas coming down so much, the cost of driving to Anaheim has dropped by a considerable amount. If you are about 500 miles or less from the home of Mickey Mouse, and have a few kids, driving is your most affordable option. Buying four plane tickets can easily cost you $500, but if your car gets 25 mpg, it will only take twenty gallons or about $50 to transport your gang 500 miles.

Food

No matter where you are, you have to eat. Food at Disney is a little on the high side, but there are plenty of family friendly restaurants just minutes from the Anaheim Express Inn Maingate. If you really want to cut down on your food bill, go to the local grocery store and fill your in-room refrigerator with fruit, drinks, sandwiches and snacks.

Whether you have a $1,000 budget or a $5,000 budget, you can have a great family vacation at Disneyland. While it is quite possible to pay a $1,000 for each day of your family vacation at Disneyland (Tips), you can also have a great family Disney experience for about $300 per day.

What Do Disneyland Devotees Know that you Don’t Know

Finding your way around Disneyland is easy. Signs direct you to all of the attractions and points of interest. You can pick-up a printed map of the park or use an interactive map app on your iPhone. You can zero in on the exact location of the Pirates of Caribbean ride or locate the Pacific Wharf Cafe for a nice lunch. Most casual visitors have no trouble navigating their way around the park, but, they don’t know some of the less obvious facts about Disneyland that Disneyland regulars do.

Did you know that there was once a lingerie shop along Main Street that sold women’s unmentionables? It was certainly no Victoria’s Secret. The small shop opened way back in 1956 and lasted less than a year before closing in 1956.

Did you know that at one time you could go into the magic shop on Main Street and be entertained by comedian Steve Martin? No, he had not yet put an arrow through his head and he was an unknown waiting for his big break in Hollywood.

While you will never see it, cast members who work on Matterhorn Mountain, had a tiny basketball court where they could shoot a few hoops when they were on a break. The Matterhorn bobsled carried President Nixon and Walt Disney on its inaugural journey.

Even though you feel like you are breaking the sound barrier when you rocket to the stars on the Space Mountain ride, you actually never hit speeds exceeding 30 mph. Disney engineers created the ride to give the illusion of supersonic speed by using banked curves, the cover of complete darkness and periodic blasts of air from big fans.

Walt Disney had a private residence built above the Fire Department in Town Square. He used to stay there with his family when he visited the park. Today, there is a light in the window that always stays on as a tribute to the man who made so many people happy. Read more.

Hidden behind a nondescript door is an exclusive members-only club that costs $10,000 to join and has a waiting list of more than 1,000 well-to-do Disney-lovers. Club 33 is located next to the Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square. Members take an elevator up to the luxury club and can dine in style and partake of their favorite alcoholic beverages. It is the only place in Disneyland Park where you can get hard liquor.

The Sleeping Beauty drawbridge is a functioning bridge. It has only been raised and lowered twice. First on Opening Day and then when the castle was rededicated in rededicated in 1983.

Main Street was modeled after 1910 Marceline, Mo, Walt Disney’s boyhood home. Tomorrowland was Walt Disney’s idea of what life would be like in 1986. Both of those years were selected because they coincide with the rare years in which Halley’s comet makes an appearance.

Take a drink from the Goofy Water Station in Toon Town after the sun sets and the water will change colors as you quench your thirst.

If you happen to visit Disneyland on your birtHday, cast members will present you with a special sticker at City Hall. If you want the recognition, be sure to tell someone at the gate that it is your birthday.

Disney is Number One in the Theme Park Business

Disney Number One 2015July 15, 2015 will be an important day in the history of Anaheim, California. It marks the 60th anniversary of Disneyland’s 1955 grand opening. While some of the old rides and attractions have been replaced by new ones, the operation of each Disney Park still stays loyal to the founder’s dreams and outlook for the future.

New technology has allowed the world of Disney to reach further than Walt Disney could ever have imagined, but if he were alive today, he would see that many of his ideas and formulas for success remain relevant to this day.

2013 Visitor Count to Disney Theme Parks

The numbers do not lie. According to a 2013 AECOM Economics and Themed Entertainment Association (TEA, nine of the top-ten theme parks around the world are Disney Parks. Only Universal Studios (ranked 9th in annual attendance) cracked the top-ten themed/amusement parks in the world.

Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, in Lake Buena Vista, FL ranked number one with a 2013 attendance of 18,588,000. Disneyland in Anaheim CA ranked third with 16,202,000 visiting the park in 2013. Disney’s California Adventure, located adjacent to Disneyland in Anaheim, ranked 10th with a 2013 attendance of 8,514,000. Total attendance at all eleven Disney theme parks around the world totaled 132.5 million. That is more than double the amount of its nearest competitor. Disney works hard to assure great customer experiences.

Disney is a Trash-Free Zone

On a busy Saturday, more than 50,000 people will pass through the gates at Disneyland. Even if you place a trash can on every corner, you know that some garbage is bound to litter the ground. So, how come you never see a stray wrapper or empty water bottle blowing in the wind? Disney has a large sanitation team and every cast member is trained to pick-up and properly dispose of any debris they may see.

Disney Stimulates All of Your Senses

When you walk down Main Street, you might detect the pleasant smell of vanilla. Around the holidays, the scent changes to peppermint. Music is always playing somewhere and there are all types of displays that capture your eye. Even as you walk between the different sections of the park, the surface changes to subtly tell you that you are entering Tomorrowland or Frontierland. Disney engages all of a visitor’s senses to give them the best possible experience.

Familiar Surroundings

Every Disney theme park around the world features a central fairy tale castle that leads visitors down a path to the different lands that await them. Just like people know what to expect when they visit any McDonald’s restaurant, visitors to Disney parks here in the United States, or overseas, will feel welcome at any Disney park they visit. Disney maintains a consistent theme while also offering some different things to see at each locale.

Cast Members Never Get in the Way of Guests

You’ll never see cast members rushing across Main Street or hustling to report to work when you visit Disneyland. Between guests and cast members, Disneyland can be as crowded as a small city of 75,000 people. Thanks to an elaborate underground tunnel system, visitor rarely come in contact with the men and women who keep the park running. Characters surface in the areas where they are scheduled to perform and do not roam across the entire park.

Authentic Antiques in the Arcades

As people are want to do, they touch anything and everything within reach. Disney has an unwritten rule that says anything within touching distance should be real and anything that is out of reach just looks real.

Disneyland is a Safe Place

Disney pays special attention to keeping the park safe for all guests. No one will want to go to a park if word gets out about people being mugged in the parking lot or having their pocket picked while waiting in line. Although you will hardly notice them, there are more than 300 security officers roaming the grounds. That is a huge number. By comparison, the entire City of Anaheim only employs about 285 police officers.

When you stay at the Anaheim Express Inn Maingate, you’ll be pleased by the price you pay. The hotel offers the same amenities you’ll find with more expensive accommodations, is close to shopping and restaurants, and is only a few blocks from Disneyland.

Knott's Berry Farm Travel 2015

Many families don’t realize just how much Knott’s Berry Farm has to offer and think of it more of a poor alternative to Disneyland. The truth is the park has been developed significantly over the past decade and the rides and other attractions that have been added make it a full scale, variety filled theme park. It provides a well-rounded experience for the whole family with thrill rides, child rides and rides family can to on together, live shows, parades, water light shows, play areas, and numerous shopping and dining options. While not as big as Disneyland, it is still important that you plan for your visit beforehand for an ideal family vacation. Some tips that will make for the ideal family visit to Knott’s Berry Farm are listed below.

• Early Admission – During the main tourist seasons in winter and summer, you can often get into the park 30 minutes early. The only line that forms is for Ghost Rider but this is a huge advantage if you want to ride this attraction without standing in line for a long time. Even if you don’t want to ride Ghost Rider, it is worth it to go early and head for the most popular attraction you want to experience. At official opening time, you will be ready to join the line immediately. Notice the looks of confusion on the other visitors who don’t know about this secret as they wonder how you and the rest of the people in line got there so fast.

• Find a Cool Spot in the Heat –It can get hot in the summer afternoons so decide on a few air-conditioned places to go ahead of time. Shopping is a great choice as shops are cool and if you plan ahead of time you can pick ones that will keep your child’s interest. Kid like the Snoopy store in particular, which is located across from the Marketplace.

• Buy Your Tickets and Fast Passes Before you Visit – Fast Lane passes are well worth the price as they let you go on 10 of the most popular rides without waiting in a long line. You can ride as many times as you want all day long by showing your wrist band. There are special entrances for most Fast Land rides which makes it easy and quick to access the platform. Getting your tickets and Fast Lane passes early means one less line to wait in and ensures you can get the number of passes you want. While there is no limit as to how many times you can ride the rides the pass covers there is a limit to the number off wristbands sold for each day. This keeps the Fast Lane lines short. During the busiest seasons, there are days that Fast Lane passes are sold out before the park opens so buy them online and buy them early.

• Register with KidTrack – This free program helps children who have become separated from their families be quickly returned. When you enter the park go to Guest Services where your cell phone number and name will be written on a special waterproof wrist band given to your child to wear. Children are told to inform any employee wearing a name tag if they get separated from their parents. The employee will escort the child to the Information Center and parents will be called and notified.

• Military, Fire and Police Personnel Can Take Advantage of a Special Offer – All military, fire and police personnel, past and present get free admission and a free guest ticket in appreciation for their service. They can also buy an additional six tickets at a much reduced price. This offer is only available certain days so check well in advance in order to determine the schedule and match it to your planned visit. All civilian and support employees with the military, police or fire department are included in this offer.

• Attend Church at Knott’s Berry Farm on Sunday – Knott’s Berry Farm is not only among the oldest theme parks in the country it is also the only one with a Church where you can attend Sunday and Holiday Services. The non-denominational Church of Reflections, complete with a large stained glass window holds regular services and can be rented for weddings, vow renewals, and other special occasions. The Snoopy Gang will even attend!

• Children Can Meet the Snoopy Characters – New to the park is an meet and greet opportunity for children to meet their favorite Snoopy Characters. Beagle Scout Headquarters located in Camp Snoopy, is an interactive experience for children of all ages and Snoopy himself is always in attendance. Take all the pictures you want of your child with the Snoopy Gang. This area can get crowded so if you have young children plan to visit when they are at their freshest as when tired the experience may become overwhelming. Remember that the costumes make the characters appear larger than life and when combined with numerous children all vying for Snoopy’s attention at once can overstimulate children especially if they are tired or hungry. A certain amount of patience and energy in needed to ensure the best experience for your child.

• Spend Family Time Panning for Gold or Seeing an Exhibit – Visit Ghost town and learn how to pan for gold and take home what you find. Tour Independence Hall, the only exact replica of the original in Philadelphia complete with Liberty Bell. This museum provides fascinating details about the drafting of the Declaration of Independence and exhibits show what life was like at the time. Walk around Ghost Town and see real buildings and memorabilia transported and reconstructed at Knott’s Berry Farm. Mr. Knott himself had a deep respect for American History and did not want just a recreation of this important part of the Wild West. He took years to search for and select each part of the town and personally oversaw its completion.

• Don’t Miss the Chance to Eat at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant – Every day since it opened in 1934, people line up on Grand Avenue for the privilege of eating Mrs. Knott’s famous fried chicken and biscuits and boysenberry pie. Although Mrs. Knott’s is no longer around to cook your meal herself, her original recipes are still used. Expanded over the years, this restaurant is one of the biggest family full service dining place in the country. Contrary to the name, the restaurant also serves breakfast and lunch and features a full menu of options that will please children and adults alike. Although they only take reservations for parties of 12 or more, you can stop by and put your name on the list and return at the time given.

More Tips, Tricks and Surprises to Keep Families Spellbound at Disneyland

Tips and Tricks Graphics for Disneyland in 2015

Photo Courtesy Eigen werk WiKipedia 2015

Families on their way to Disneyland usually have a long list of things they must see and do while they are there with plans for the bigger, more obvious wants and desires during their visit. However, there are a lot of little things like ways to take care of unanticipated needs, ways to keep small children entertained and engaged in a highly stimulating environment and surprises that can help your family’s visit be a success. In this article you will find a mix of tips, tricks and surprises to help you create the perfect Disneyland experience. With a little knowhow almost anything is possible.

• Have Breakfast with the Disneyland Characters – Most kids have favorite Disney characters and little else matters as much as meeting their heroes. The problem is the chance of running into a specific character while walking around the park aren’t great. You can catch many of the Disney characters in the same place and have breakfast while you meet them. Character breakfasts are definitely the way to go if meeting the Disney characters are a must for your children. Plus there’s the advantage of not waiting in lines. Each character goes from table to table so all you have to do is sit comfortably while you eat breakfast and they’ll come to you. Your children can also dance with the characters during the Disney Character Dance Party before you leave. This option makes sure your kids see the characters first thing in the morning so you won’t have to search for the appropriate cast member all day long. Insider tip: Try breakfast at Disney’s Paradise Pier. This is the only restaurant where Mickey Mouse is guaranteed to make an appearance.

• Finding Favorite Characters in the Park – If you miss out on one of the character breakfasts, you will now be responsible for hunting down favorite characters while inside the park. This doesn’t have to be a nightmare of chasing just spotted characters around the park or learning one has retired for the day by the time you figure out where they are. Instead of spending much of the day keeping all eyes peeled for a specific character, use FindingMickey.com to pinpoint different character’s location throughout the day. You can then determine who you are closest to at any point in time and surprise your kids with an impromptu meet-up. They’ll be awestruck wondering how you seem to know exactly where each Disney character is located. The site has a lot of other useful information on dining, background, secrets of Disneyland, and locating all the hidden Mickey’s that are throughout the park.

• Bring in Your Families Old Stand-by Food and Drinks – Everyone likes novelty every once in a while, especially when visiting a theme park like Disneyland. Yet children get hungry often when expending energy from all the excitement of the day. This means not only meals but snacks and frequent drinks which can add up to a bundle. Children also are drawn to unique sounding foods they have never tried before like the Dole Whip Float and Zebra Dome even if they choose to skip the School Bread (it is vacation after all). While it all sounds great when they hear it for the first time, like everyone, children do best with familiar foods. Since Disneyland lets you bring in food and drinks, make sure to pack a supply of favorite snacks and drinks (including bottled water no matter what else your family craves) to limit stomach aches and indigestion throughout the day. Plan one special meal in the park and allow one small snack and drink from a kiosk but supply the rest of the food from what you pack yourself. Explain this to the children ahead of time so they don’t get too disappointed when you won’t buy them every food item at Disney. Try to save the snack for the afternoon as something to look forward too instead of buying it in the morning before lunch leaving them with no more “special” treats later in the day.

• Don’t Limit the Shopping Just to Avoid the Packages – Families often bring a lot of gear with them into the park especially when traveling with more than one child. Sometimes, this causes families to avoid shopping since they know they can only carry so much and don’t want to subject themselves to temptation. Go ahead and shop til you drop. You can ask the Disney Cast Members at the different shops to have your packages delivered to Will-Call. If you are staying in one of the Disneyland Resorts, you can even have them delivered to your room. Just make sure you have left complete information about where you will pick up your packages and include a cell phone and the phone number of where you are staying to make sure the right packages go to the right guests. There are thousands of guests that float through the gates every day and sometimes two people have the same name or orders get misplaced no matter how organized the salespeople are.

• Schedule Meals Around Parade Times – Parades are one of the most popular “must-see” attractions at Disneyland. This means it can be tough to find a great spot to watch from that’s not already overcrowded. Determine where you want to watch the parade from and get there early with your meal so your kids can have something to do before the parade starts. Try to do some of the more energy consuming activities right before, so your children will be ready for a rest and not fight the break from the rides. Bring games and books to keep them busy right up until the start time. This way you can get one of the primo viewing locations without the kids complaining about the wait.

• Gage Your Child’s Readiness for Rides beyond Height Restrictions – Height restrictions listed for many of the child rides are there for safety. While your child may be physically safe on a ride that doesn’t mean the ride won’t be too scary for them. For example, small children can go on the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion rides based on their height but may become scared during the rides. Only you can gauge if a ride is appropriate for your child. View clips of the child rides on the Internet before your trip or by ordering a free DVD from Disney so you can decide ahead of time which rides your child will enjoy and which ones are likely to be overwhelming for them. One overly scary ride can ruin a good portion of the day for small children who don’t yet regulate their emotions well.

These are just a few tips to help you have the best Disney family vacation ever. Make sure to do your research before your trip for other ideas, coupons, special opportunities for families, seasonal offerings, and ways to save on the whole experience. You can make even a repeat visit to Disneyland exciting with new encounters and adventures you didn’t know about before.

Disneyland or California Adventure Park: Which is Better for Young Kids

$

0

The Disney theme parks in California are truly magical places that every family should experience at least once. It’s no secret that people of all ages can enjoy Disneyland and California Adventure Park, but is one better than the other when it comes to bringing very young children? The answer varies from person to person. Before you make a choice, it may help to consider each park’s unique features.

The Enchantments of Disneyland

If you only have one day to visit the Disney parks, you may want to opt for the classic. Disneyland is terrifically engaging, and the bounty of characters will certainly mesmerize little ones. When you first arrive, head straight to Sleeping Beauty Castle. You’ll see some Disney characters strolling around, and there is an assortment of kid-friendly rides nearby, including Peter Pan’s Flight.

5 Disney Face Characters

The park is divided into eight lands based on various themes. A train travels from land to land, providing a nice break for tiny feet. Must-sees for young kids include Critter Country, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Mickey’s Toontown. In one day, your young adventurers can chat with fairytale princesses, sail with scurvy pirates and discover the wonders of outer space. If your tots need to rest, hop on It’s a Small World and ride your way through a vibrant animated universe.

Driver at Disneyland California MainSt in 2013

The one sight you cannot miss in Disneyland is Main Street, U.S.A. You’ll get a sensational castle view, and if you arrive at the right time, you can experience the electrifying Soundsational Parade. Disney favorites are brought to life in this stunning procession. At night, be sure to head toward the castle for the most extravagant fireworks display you’ll ever witness. Just these two attractions alone make the argument for bringing young children to this remarkable park.

The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland in 2010

The Thrills of California Adventure Park

California Adventure Park is essentially the hip big brother of Disneyland, and it has some very distinct special qualities. You won’t see as many children there compared to Disneyland, but there are still various points of interest for young minds. This park is also divided into eight themed sections, including the recently developed Cars Land. Other standouts include Hollywood Land, Paradise Pier and A Bug’s Land.

California Adventure Park Entrance

Although many of the rides at this park are more dynamic than those at Disneyland, some are clearly geared toward young ones. The adults in your party can meet their scream quota on rides such as California Screamin’ and The Tower of Terror, while the kids can giggle and jiggle their way through Toy Story Midway Mania, Jumpin’ Jellyfish and Flik’s Flyers.

Inside California Adventure Park

The inviting atmosphere of this park makes it an enjoyable getaway for everyone, but the interactive attractions really bring the family together. You can discover even more about beloved Disney and Pixar heroes and heroines at numerous sites. The most notable stops are Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, The Sorcerer’s Workshop and Turtle Talk with Crush. Wrap up your festivities playing some games along the boardwalk or drawing your favorite characters at the Animation Academy.

Paradise pier Sunset at California Adventure Park

The Best of Both Worlds

If you have several days to play with, you can purchase Park Hopper passes, which allow you to cross between the two parks day to day. Because there are so many rides, shows and attractions at each, this is a worthwhile option. You can select the most appealing areas without having to squeeze too much into one day. Before you buy your passes, research the park hours, busy times and Extra Magic Hours to optimize your visit.

Whether you purchase Park Hoppers or you choose one park over the other, you may want to factor in your children’s interests before making your checklist. California Adventure Park has quite a few lands dedicated to more recent Disney films such as Cars, Frozen and Monsters, Inc. Disneyland has more salutes to the classics, including Fantasmic, which is an epic combination of music, video, pyrotechnics and lasers.

At both parks, young visitors can become fully immersed in the wonder of Disney. The lands at each location are filled with characters performing and greeting guests. Disneyland does have a more nostalgic kid vibe because of the classic tunes playing around the park and the vibrant colors of each attraction. During the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, the visual effects and holiday traditions are incredible at this park.

Each of these Disney parks are equally matched when it comes to entertainment, so your decision should come down to what you and your family find the most exciting. California Adventure seems to be more about the energy and thrills, while Disneyland centers on youthful charm. No matter which option you choose, you and your little ones will create a treasury of memories that will last a lifetime.

Valentines Day at Disneyland California

Valentine’s Day is a time for celebrating the wonder of love, and there is no better place to do so than Disneyland. During the month of February, the park pulsates with a romantic vibe. If you want to create unforgettable memories with your Valentine, this is the ultimate destination. Bring your camera and your creativity, because there will be endless opportunities to capture snapshots of your experience.

Take a Stroll to Sleeping Beauty Castle

This iconic structure is a must-see all year, but it’s even more captivating on Valentine’s Day. The castle seemingly radiates with passion, and the gold, red and pink nighttime lighting is wondrous to see. With love actually projected onto the castle, it’s the perfect place to experience true love’s kiss. After taking in this beautiful sight, stroll over to Snow White’s Grotto, where you can make wishes at the charming well.

Experience Fine Dining at Blue Bayou Restaurant

The sights and sounds of this restaurant actually mimic the ambiance of the bayou at twilight. You’ll experience sensory overload as you dine on some of the tastiest Creole and Cajun specialties. Located in New Orleans Square, Blue Bayou is the epitome of romance. If possible, request a table near the water’s edge, and watch the Pirates of the Caribbean boats lazily float by.

Relax on the Mark Twain Riverboat

There is nothing better than cuddling close to someone you love on Valentine’s Day, and this old-fashioned vessel is ideal for getting cozy. You’ll see plenty of interesting sights as you glide along the picturesque Rivers of America in Frontierland. You can also sit back, close your eyes and enjoy some quiet moments with your special someone.

Revitalize your Spirit with Disney Rides

Do you want to relive those initial sparks you once felt for your partner? One of the best ways to do this is to experience some childlike fun. You have a few choices to accomplish this, but you cannot go wrong with King Arthur’s Carousel or the Storybook Land boat ride. These whimsical attractions are perfect for evoking that over-the-moon bliss of pure love.

Slow down on Main Street

Main Street is especially enchanting in February. The crimson embellishments and heart-shaped decorations provide the sweetest backdrop for a hand-in-hand stroll. After sunset, the area transforms into a vibrant, twinkling wonderland. You may even get lucky and see some pop stars. Celebrities frequently visit the park during this season, particularly in the evenings, and many are gracious enough to pose for selfies with fans.

To avoid the holiday crowd, consider visiting on an ordinary weekday. Lines will be shorter, and you’ll have more private photo opportunities. It’s also worthwhile to reserve your hotel in advance. Our rooms are only $99 for Valentine’s night, and we’re just minutes from the park. Visit http://anainn.com to book your spot, and get ready to experience the magic of love at one of the most romantic places on earth.

In New Orleans as in Rio de Janeiro, Mardi Gras is a grand celebration of parades, street parties and energetic performances. At Disneyland, Mardi Gras celebrations are more muted but just as fun-filled in a family friendly sort of way.

Screen Shot 2015-02-04 at 2.42.32 PMMardi Gras at Disneyland: What to Expect

New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park in Anaheim is Ground Zero for Mardi Gras festivities. The event is billed as Bayou Bash with special menu items drinks and entertainment slated for the period that, in years past, were scheduled for several weekends preceding Lent. This year, the New Orleans Bayou Bash returns on February 17.

As in the past, Prince Naveen, Princess Tiana and other pageant-bedecked characters, including Mickey and Minnie, will present special performances followed by meet-and-greet sessions with the characters. Beloved Disney characters, including Goofy, Donald Duck, Pluto and Chip ‘n Dale will join the audience interaction sessions in full Mardi Gras regalia.

Where to Stay

To make the most of your Disneyland visit for the Mardi Gras festivities, make sure to stay close to the action. The Anaheim Express Inn Maingate is strategically located close to Disneyland, so you can walk to the park if you wish. It is a newly-renovated facility with free Wi-Fi access for guests. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, a jacuzzi and comfortable rooms that are perfect for unwinding after a long day of Mardi Gras partying.

Anaheim Express Inn Maingate takes pride in the fact that guests get the most bang for their buck with our affordable rates. The special event rate for Mardi Gras revelers will be $89 for standard occupancy. Reservations are recommended, so call or click now and start practicing your dance moves for the Mardi Gras party at Disneyland.

Disneyland DAPPER DAY: How Will You Show Your Swanky Vintage Style

If you missed DAPPER DAY at Disneyland this year, you don’t need to fret. You’ll have more chances to participate in this fashion-focused gathering. DAPPER DAY at the Parks will return to California in September, and it’ll take place next spring as well. This means you have plenty of time to find your inner fashionista so that you can enjoy the Disney parks in high style.

What Is DAPPER DAY?

This event essentially pays tribute to the fashion trends of times gone by. Guests are invited to pull out all the stops and dress to impress in classic vintage attire. Although the styles range from the early 1900s to the 1980s, many people opt for the affluent 20s look. It’s up to you to decide which era you feel most connected to. Are you a flapper at heart, or is your personality more psychedelic?

Photo Credit: karely – Twitter @kurlyfrys

Whether you’re hip and happening, totally tubular or the bee’s knees, you just need to dress in your Sunday best for DAPPER DAY. Then you can stroll along Main Street U.S.A. with all the other dandies and darlings. There are several themed activities to participate in, and the gathering seems to get better each year. Even with the brief rainfall this March, people from all over the country had a blast showing off their fashion flair.

How Should You Dress for the Occasion?

You’ll see a vast assortment of snazzy outfits at the parks, from pinup glamorous to hippie chic. If you want to be all the rage, think about which trend appeals to you and amplify the pizzazz. Have you dreamed of running with the Rat Pack? Consider donning a gray suit and vest with a matching fedora, but tip the fedora forward and wear a vibrantly colored shirt. Bow ties, suspenders and seersucker suits are also fun options.

Women have even more choices and can go wild with accessories such as oversized Jackie O sunglasses, pearls, elbow-length silk gloves and neck scarves. Break out the back-seam stockings, cardigans, crinoline skirts or capris for your foundation, then work around those. This event is about rocking any classic style, but it’s also about being comfortable. If you feel like a fuddy-duddy rather than a hepcat, you may want to add some zing to your ensemble.

What Are Some of the Special Features?

From the moment you enter the park, you’ll be surrounded by the sights and sounds of yesteryear, including horse-drawn trolleys, old-time tunes and the most fashion-savvy collection of people you have ever seen. A classic barbershop quartet called the Dapper Dans serenades guests as well. You may even see a famous mouse or two dressed in their Sunday finest roaming the streets.

One of the biggest crowd-pleasers is the Expo, where you can browse a large collection of vintage accessories, clothing, home decor and beauty products. Another main attraction is the elegant lunch and lawn party, which consists of dining, dancing and games in the private gardens of the Disneyland Hotel. To continue the old-fashioned antics, be sure to take a ride on the Mark Twain Riverboat or hop on the King Arthur Carousel for a dapper derby.

Where Are the Best Photo Opportunities?

Any area in the Disney realm is ideal for posing in your favorite vintage duds. If a particular land inspired your outfit, make that your stage. Strike some poses that illustrate the blast-from-the-past vibe. We’ve collected various creative photos from DAPPER DAY attendees to give you a starting point. We’d like to thank everyone who agreed to share their extraordinary memories. The power of Disney is in the smiles of its guests, and these photos are evidence of the park’s magic.

No matter where you decide to document your day, you are sure to experience unforgettable moments that you can treasure forever. There is no wrong way to participate as long as you display your passion for vintage fashion while enjoying the wonder of the Disney parks. So shine up those wingtips or go-go boots, and get ready for the next DAPPER DAY at the Parks. You can follow all the event updates on Twitter at https://twitter.com/DapperDay. Get ready to step into a world of refined make-believe, where it’s perfectly acceptable to be the cat’s meow.

To the talented photographers:

We want to thank you as well for allowing us to use your photos. We’ve chosen to display your work because we believe it is exceptional, and we’re pleased to show your artistry to our readers. Your creativity, talent and expertise are so unique, we hope you continue nurturing your craft. Disneyland is full of magical moments but nothing is more exciting than getting a chance to meet Mickey Mouse and his sweetheart Minnie Mouse. Mickey and Minnie are not shy about greeting their adoring fans, followers, and friends. When visiting Disneyland, whether you are young or old, getting to see and say hello to Mickey Mouse is always a highlight of the day.

On the night before you are planning to visit Disneyland, you can hardly sleep. Like a child waiting until morning to unwrap gifts from Santa, going to Disneyland is equally exciting. Your imagination takes over as you anticipate the amazing day that lies ahead. In just hours you will pass through the gates of the theme park and into the Wonderful World of Disney.

It is understandable that your heart is set on meeting Mickey Mouse and his girl, Minnie Mouse. Will you get to meet the world’s most famous mouse? How will you meet him?

Best Places to Meet Mickey and Minnie

One way to increase your chances of meeting your favorite Disney character is to show up in areas that Mickey is known to frequent. Mickey spends a good portion of his day in the Town Square on Main Street. If you are looking down at your map of the theme park and feel a tap on your shoulder, don’t be surprised if it is the white-gloved big hand of Mickey. A scream of delight is likely to follow when you turn around and come face-to-chest with the iconic Disney character.

Mickey or Minnie probably won’t sneak up behind you and make you scream with surprise. More likely, you’ll see them in some of their favorite hangouts. Mickey has a pretty busy schedule. He usually appears in all of the theme park’s parades and in Fantasmic, the nighttime spectacular. You might also catch him leading the Disneyland Band or up on stage in a performance of Mickey and the Magical Map.

Fun Facts About Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse was an animated character who was brought to life in 1928 by Walt Disney. Mickey was a replacement for Disney’s earlier creation, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

Shake hands with Mickey and you’ll notice he only has three fingers and a thumb. This was done intentionally by Walt Disney who famously said,”Artistically, five digits are too many for a mouse, it would look like a bunch of bananas.

Since Mickey spoke his first words, there have only been a handful of people who have voiced the high falsetto voice of Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney was the original voice and he passed the torch to Jimmy MacDonald in 1946. After he retired, MacDonald was replaced by Wayne Allwine (Allwine’s wife Russi has been the voice of Minnie since 1986). Upon his death in 2009, Wayne Allwine was replaced by Bret Iwan, the current voice of Mickey.

Dad is chewing on a giant turkey leg and sneaking a glance at a pretty lady in short shorts. It must be that everyone has caught spring fever!

Spring officially starts on March 21 but Disney’s Spring Break season starts just after the first weekend in March and lasts through the first weekend in May. Spring Break 2015 at Disneyland is about halfway over and it has been amazing. If you went the last week of March or the first week of April, you went at the busiest time. You still might encounter some long lines at the most popular attractions but the crowds are starting to thin out.

If you want to lessen your wait when you go to Disneyland and/or California Adventure over the next month, try going during the middle of the week. Saturdays are always busy at the two Disney theme parks. If this is not your first foray into the Wonderful World of Disney, you probably know some of the standard ways of dealing with crowds. Just in case you don’t, here are a couple of more suggestions.

Radiator Springs Will Bring High Speed Adventure and Smiles at Disneyland

Parents and children alike will enjoy a “gentle” adventure through Radiator Springs, the town made famous in “Cars,” one of Disney’s most popular movies. From the time you enter Cars Land in the park, you will be greeted by the six mountain peaks that resemble the tail fins of classic Cadillacs. You cannot leave without a ride on the Radiator Springs Racers.

Beginning your road trip, you will walk through Stanley’s Oasis, the original 1909 settlement from the film. This leads to a cave where the loading station is located. Passengers board six-passenger convertibles decorated with smiling faces. This sets the tone for a whimsical tour through Ornament Valley, which is filled with majestic waterfalls and impressive rock formations. Since the big race is just moments away, you should enjoy the serenity.

Along the drive, you enter the indoor part of the attraction. Everyone is treated to scenes that depict everyday life in Radiator Springs. Little ones will delight in the atmosphere, and adults will be entertained as well. The best part of this segment of the ride is trying to avoid “accidents” with various cars and a speeding train. As the sheriff emerges, guests are warned to proceed slowly and to follow Mater into town. On the way, Mater takes you on a fun tractor-tipping expedition.

You return to town and receive a greeting from some familiar faces. Sally and Lightning McQueen offer everyone a warm welcome. Just as things seem calm, you are about to prepare for the thrilling race. To get ready, your car will either get a new set of wheels at Luigi’s Casa Della Tires or receive a new paint job at Ramone’s House of Body Art.

Photo Credit Kathy Ting-Ting Yu ‏@KathyTingTingYu

As you pullup to the starting line and meet your competition, Doc Hudson makes a quick appearance, and Luigi signals the start of the race over Camelback Hills. Your car will approach speeds of 40 miles per hour, and your body will become exhilarated. Although the race brings an adrenaline rush, it is suitable for children of all ages. Even small kids will love the winding turns and humps that cause riders to jump out of their seats. After you fly past Tail Light Cavern, your ride will come to an end, and one car will be selected the winner.

Sunsets at Disneyland Enhance the Park’s Dreamlike Appeal

Disneyland is a mystical place any time of day, but the magic at sunset is particularly remarkable. Although you’ll see some pretty spectacular views no matter where you go in the park, watching the landscape transform just before twilight is extra special. Because Southern California is beautiful and sunny all year long, Disney consistently has some of the best sunsets in the country.

Why are Disneyland Sunsets so Exceptional?

At Disneyland, you can completely immerse yourself in the fairy tale. The entire park is a feast for your senses, and adding the vibrant backdrop of a gorgeous sunset enhances the experience. You’ll feel all the typical happiness triggers of the nostalgic music and distinct scents, but the extraordinary evening views heighten the sensations and emotion.

Photo credit Epic Beer Girl ‏@epicbeergirl

Photo credit Epic Beer Girl ‏@epicbeergirl – http://www.epicbeergirl.com

It’s no secret that Disneyland is iconic. This is because cast members provide special touches and make everything feel just right for both children and adults. The variation of themes, rides, storytelling, stage performances and engaging attractions also add to the park’s prestige. When you experience these elements at sundown, it almost creates a mystery to the very recognizable features of Disney.

Where are the Best Areas for Viewing a Sunset?

Nearly any point is great for watching the sun glow softer. Countless silhouettes boost the pretty factor, from the Mouse himself to the towering palm trees. For an even more memorable treat, hop on one of the outdoor rides at dusk. The Mark Twain Riverboat, Storybook Land Canal Boats and Monorail provide stunning views of the sun dipping beyond the tree-lined waters.

If you really want to watch the park change colors, head to the top of Tarzan’s Treehouse or any elevated attraction. It’s also impressive to see the crimson, tangerine and gold shades illuminating the cobalt sky behind Sleeping Beauty Castle. As Main Street lights up, the twinkling lights against the subdued tones of nightfall is hypnotizing.

What are Some Other Unique Points of Interest?

As the sun sets in Disneyland, the park feels more tranquil but simultaneously has a new energy. The special effects tell a different story at dusk. When the sky starts to transform, there is a mythical vibe in Downtown Disney, and Fantasyland becomes even more whimsical. If you’re lucky enough to catch a magenta sunset from Adventureland, you’ll witness an unforgettable exotic display.

The most special aspect of a Disneyland sunset is the romantic, sentimental appeal. Disney is a place to relax and step away from the real world with your loved ones. Whether you’re young or young at heart, you’ll be amazed at how the setting sun paints this storybook land with even more magic and splendor.

Summertime is all about having fun under the sun, and one of the best places to let loose and enjoy the warm weather is Knott’s Berry Farm. This 160-acre theme park in Southern California is less than 10 miles from Disneyland, so it’s easy to visit both parks during the summer. Knott’s Berry Farm isn’t as crowded as Disney, but its excitement level is quite similar.

Unique Themes to Please Everyone

The park is divided into themed areas with a variety of rides, attractions and shows to enjoy. It’s easy to navigate the property, so you can actually explore according to your interests. You may want to begin in Ghost Town, which perfectly represents the quintessential abandoned Western village. Upon arrival, you can climb aboard an authentic vintage locomotive for a quick trip around the park to plan your day.

Ghost Town is also home to the classic Calico Mine Ride, the Timber Mountain Log Ride and Bigfoot Rapids. Once you get ultra-soaked at the splash zones, you can dry off in the warm sunshine at the Boardwalk. Along with a great selection of rides, there is a midway of cool carnival games. From there, check out the colorful Mexican themed attractions at Fiesta Village, and don’t forget to leave a few hours for Soak City. This wild water park features a wave pool, various slides, a lazy river and even a children’s lagoon.

Rides for the Adventurous and Apprehensive

One of the best aspects of Knott’s Berry Farm is that it has a decent collection of both exhilarating and gentle rides. It’s truly a family oriented park, and nothing proves that more than Camp Snoopy. This is a child’s dream world full of bold colors and cute characters. It contains quite a few mild rides for little ones of all ages, including Pig Pen’s Mud Buggies and the Flying Ace. There are also coasters for the older, braver kids.

If you’re seeking more grown-up thrills, make sure you ride the Ghost Rider and Silver Bullet while in Ghost Town. You’ll also have a chance to spin, twist, soar and dip on the Pacific Scrambler, Boomerang, Coast Rider and Xcelerator at the Boardwalk. In Fiesta Village, don’t miss out on Montezooma’s Revenge and Jaguar. Montezooma’s Revenge shuttles you upward at a thrilling speed, and Jaguar takes you above various points of the park.

Special Events, Shows and Interactive Attractions

Special events take place all year at Knott’s Berry Farm, but the summertime seems to bring a new vibe. From the Mother’s Day Champagne Buffet to the Memorial Sunday Fireworks Display, there is a very celebratory energy in the summer at the park. Beginning in May, the new Voyage to the Iron Reef ride will add to the excitement. This 4-D attraction is basically an interactive battle between guests and underwater creatures attempting to destroy the park.

All the park shows and live entertainment are unmatched, and many performances are based on the themed lands. Whether you prefer the special effects and storytelling presentation of the Mystery Lodge, the variety acts at the Calico Saloon or the Old West stunt show, you won’t experience one minute of boredom. There is even an amusing musical performance for tots at the Camp Snoopy Theater.

Comfortable and Charming Ambiance

Unlike many other adventure parks, Knott’s has an old-fashioned, inviting charm. This is particularly evident in some of the quaint shops and restaurants. Take a step back in time at the General Store, the Indian Trails Shops, Berry Market and Candy Parlour before settling down for a relaxing meal. Some of the more impressive dining options include Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, Papa Loca and the Churro Factory.

There really is an extraordinary selection of attractions at Knott’s Berry Farm, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to giggle, scream, cool off or just relax. Whether you’re a local or you’re visiting the Anaheim area on vacation, we highly recommend experiencing this one-of-a-kind fun zone. No matter how you spend your time there, you’ll make lifelong memories with the ones you love.

Disneyland is obviously a great place to have fun but it usually requires at least one full day to enjoy. You don’t want to pay $100 to get in and then leave after two or three hours. If you want something fun to do that can be done in half a day or less, you have many options.

Disneyland is ready to sparkle and shine like never before when it celebrates its 60th anniversary. Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration officially begins on May 22, 2015. Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure Park are both “dressing up” for this milestone birthday of the original Disneyland.

While May 22, 2015 is the first day of the Diamond Celebration, Disneyland actually opened to some specially invited guests on July 17, 1955, and to the general public on July 18,2015. There were five themed parks and 18 attractions. While some attractions were free with admission, you had to buy tickets for many individual rides. In the 60 years since the gates first opened, Walt Disney’s vision has been expanded to include 85 major rides and attractions (51 in Disneyland Park & 34 in California Adventure Park).

The Disney theme park franchise has also grown to include the expansive Walt Disney World Resort just outside of Orlando, Florida as well as parks in Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong. In 2016, a new Disney theme park is scheduled to open in Shanghai.

Thanks to advanced technology and the use of more than 1.5 million lights, the glow will be magnified will the different Disney stories are presented. Thousands of energy efficient LED lights will be deployed on each float and all of the costumed characters will also be adorned with their own sophisticated lighting system.

Disneyland is special for a variety of reasons, but the characters strolling around the park really make the fantasy world extra exciting. Everyone has a favorite, whether it’s the Mouse himself or a beautiful princess. One Disney friend who is adored year after year is Mickey’s longtime buddy, Goofy. If this zany dog is your favorite, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see him on your next visit to Disney.

Random Encounters

You can spot Goofy all over the park, and many times he seems to appear out of nowhere. To ensure you don’t miss him, grab a character location schedule at the park entry. You’ll most likely find Goofy in Town Square. Many characters only do scheduled meetings, but you may get lucky and catch the nutty guy out and about. If you do, be sure to get a photo with the famous castle or the quaint turn-of-the-century buildings as your backdrop.

Goofy also regularly appears at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree in Frontierland. The live show is actually a hoedown with Mickey Mouse and friends, and it’s quite the spectacle. Characters not only perform, they play around with each other and show their unique personalities. Your chances of seeing Goofy roaming around are pretty good, and he seems to be even zanier and clumsier around his hillbilly pals.

A Neighborhood of Disney Friends

Another good place for meeting the wacky dog is Mickey’s Toontown. It’s the home to the most popular Disney characters, and once you step into this wonderfully loony world, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered a classic cartoon. With its lopsided, brightly colored buildings, Toontown is a story waiting to be told. It truly is the perfect wacky world for Goofy to call home.

In the center of the neighborhood, you’ll see Goofy’s blue asymmetrical house, which is tall and lanky just like its owner. Goofy is occasionally seen dancing and goofing around outside his home. If you spot him, there are many great places to pose for pictures, including in his garden of twirling flowers or next to the wildly shaped furniture inside the house.

Special Interactions

If your children want some one-on-one time with Goofy, sign up for a character meal. You can enjoy any meal with various characters in the park or at certain resorts, but you’re not guaranteed to see Goofy unless you go to Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. You don’t need a room to attend the special brunch or dinner. While you’re there, you and your family can dance with Chef Goofy and experience the mayhem only he can produce.

For more personal interaction, check out the Discover the Magic Tour where you and your family can play alongside Goofy and other characters. You’ll dodge villains, go on a treasure scavenger hunt, enjoy a special meal and visit with Goofy and his sidekicks. The tour and character meals are ideal options if you don’t want to stand in line for the typical meet-and-greet, but it’s best to reserve your spot for each a few weeks in advance.

Younger children adore Goofy for his silly antics and awkwardness, so it’s worth taking the time to character hunt if you have little ones. Since he’s known for his foolishness, Disneyland guests love taking crazy pictures with him. Once you spot his rumpled green fedora, grab your autograph book and camera, and get ready to giggle. Goofy will certainly make sure you and your loved ones have an unforgettable experience.
